2009 August Flower Report

Our unusual weather has continued into August. Bits and pieces of rain fell on 20 of the 31 days in July. While rain has wrecked havoc on area hay farmers, it has not retarded our flower gardens.

As the Spring flowers faded our summer perennials came on strong.

The butterfly bushes have been attracting monarchs as well as swallowtails.

In the early morning hours the yellow finches have been feeding off the sunflowers.

The backyard has bloomed beyond expectations.

The only patch of grass that really needs to be mowed weekly.
