While Graham Ison's knowledge of the workings of Special Branch at New Scotland Yard make this an informative read. Ison's narrative is drudgery. Ison's main character, Detective Chief Superintendent John Gaffney, appears not to suffer fools gladly. Wonder how long Gaffney could sit over tea with Ison.
