Meet Me in St. Louis
The third show of the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse's 2010 season, Meet Me in St. Louis, was based on the memorable 1944 MGM classic film directed by Vincente Minnelli and stared Judy Garland. In fact, Minnelli convinced Garland to take this role. You might recall their subsequent marriage had a daughter, Liza.
This classic love story was presented in a romantic, carefree manner that allowed the performers to end on a happy note as they boarded the trolley singing and dancing.
The choreography and the costumes were excellent. The cast seemed to be having a fun-filled romp through the musical numbers, especially the two youngest members, sisters Annaleigh and Alizabeth York, who played the parts of Agnes and Tootie Smith.
